After CBSE, state Boards that have cancelled or postponed class 10, 12 exams - here's the full list

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday (April 14) cancelled the Class 10 exams and postponed the Class 12 Board examinations in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases. Following the CBSE's decision, several other state boards including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, among others have also cancelled or postponed the exams. 

Here is a list of the states where class 10, 12 oard exams have been cancelled or rescheduled:

Rajasthan

Rajasthan Board Class 10, 12 Exam 2021: After CBSE, the Rajasthan government on Wednesday has postponed Class 10, 12 board examinations of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), due to the current surge in COVID-19 cases.
Students of classes 8th, 9th, and 11th will be promoted without examinations, the state government said.
The decisions were taken by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot after discussions with Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra because of the second wave of coronavirus infection, the state government said in a statement.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has postponed the state Board examinations for Classes 10 and 12. All Classes from 1 to 12 will also remain closed till May 15.
The government spokesman said that fresh dates for the examinations would be announced sometime in May.
Earlier, the board examinations were scheduled to begin from May 8.
This is the second time that the Board exams have been deferred. The exams were earlier scheduled to be held from April 24 but the dates were pushed ahead because of the Panchayat elections. The next date was May 8 which has now been put off.

Gujarat 

The Gujarat government on Thursday decided to postpone the Board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 and also announced mass promotion for all the rest of the classes in view of the Covid resurgence.
The state education department said it will review the situation at a later date and decide accordingly.
Following the CBSE decision, the Gujarat government postponed the examination for the Classes 10 and 12, which had earlier been scheduled from May 10 to 25.
The government will review the situation on May 1 and then come out with an updated schedule. The students appearing in Classes 10 and 12 examinations will be provided adequate time of at least 15 days prior to the exam schedule whenever it is announced, said the officials.

Telangana

The Telangana government on Thursday decided to cancel the annual Class 10 exams and promote the students of the intermediate first year (Class 11) without exams in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases. The decision has been taken considering the present pandemic situation prevailing in the state and also keeping in view the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to cancel the Class 10 exams, Special Chief Secretary, Chitra Ramchandran, said.
The results of Class 10 students will be prepared on the basis of objective criteria to be developed by the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Board at a later date. Any candidate not satisfied with marks allotted will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive, says the orders issued by the School Education Department.
The SSC exams were scheduled to be held from May 17. The department has also decided to promote all students of Intermediate first year without exams.
It also postponed Intermediate second year (12th class) exams scheduled from May 1 to May 19. The department will review the situation in the first week of June and future dates will be announced with at least 15 days' notice for the exams.
All Intermediate second-year students having backlogs will be given minimum passing marks for the backlogs only, says another order issued by the Higher Education Department.

Odisha

The Odisha government on Thursday postponed all board examinations including the Class 10 and 12 tests in the wake of spiraling COVID-19 cases in the state.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the announcement after reviewing the coronavirus situation in Odisha, where active cases have surpassed the 14,000-mark.
The Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) conducts the annual matriculation examination and the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) is in charge of the Class 12 examination, both of which have been postponed.
The tests for Class 10 were scheduled to start from May 3 and the Plus-II examinations from May 18.
Panaik said the state government will take a decision on conducting the examinations after reviewing the pandemic situation in the first week of June
The students of Class 9 and 11 will be promoted to the subsequent standard without appearing for any test, the CM added.

Haryana 

The Haryana government on Thursday cancelled the class 10 board exams which were to be conducted by the state board of school education and decided to postpone the exams of class 12 amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
The state government's decision came a day after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled the class 10 exam and postponed the class 12 examination due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Punjab

Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Punjab government on Thursday announced that students of Classes 5, 8 and 10 will be promoted to the next standard without exams.
A decision on the Class 12 examinations will be taken later, according to a statement.
The announcement with regard to the three state board classes came a day after the Union government cancelled Class 10 exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Punjab State Examination Board (PSEB) too had last month deferred exams of Classes 10 and 12 by about a month. The exams of Class 10 were scheduled to start from May 4 and that of Class 12 were to commence from April 20.

Madhya Pradesh

the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to postpone the Board exams for classes 10 and 12 in the state. Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that the board exams will which were scheduled to be held from April 30, will now be conducted after May 30. Practical exams will now be held by May 15. The department will soon issue the fresh MPBE Class 10th class 12th board exam date sheet.

Maharashtra

State board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 have been postponed in Maharashtra in light of the extremely bad coronavirus situation in the state, education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced on Monday. "Class 12th exams will be held by the end of May, while 10th standard exams will be in June. Fresh dates will be announced accordingly," she told news agency ANI. She said the government will send a communique to the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge boards, requesting them to reconsider their exams dates.

Jammu and Kashmir

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to cancel the ongoing exams for class 10. The students will be promoted to the next class based on their internal assessments. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the board has decided to postpone the exams for class 12. 
The official statement of J&K government says, "In view of rising #COVID19 cases, ongoing Class 10 exams for remaining subjects have been cancelled and students would be promoted to Class 11 based on internal assessments. Ongoing Class 12 exams have been postponed."

Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led government in the state on Sunday decided to cancel upcoming Class 10 Board Exams 2021. The secondary (class 10) exam were scheduled to be held from April 15 to May 1, said Chhattisgarh Board CGBSE, adding that the decision has been take due to surge in coronavirus cases. The CGBSE, however, has not mentioned any change in schedule for the senior secondary (class 12) exams which are scheduled to start on May 3 and end on 24. The CGBSE said that the new dates of Class 10 exams will be announced later.

Delhi

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government also postponed the Class 9 and Class 11 exams in the state. The exams were scheduled to be held in offline centre-based mode.
