Six Engineers at fault: Report

In a report submitted to the Ghaziabad administration on Tuesday, six people of Jal Nigam have been named responsible for the death of 3 people, who had died of asphyxiation while cleaning a tank of a sewage treatment plant in Loni area. According to the reports, submitted by additional district magistrate Sunil Kumar Singh to district magistrate Ritu Maheshwari, it has been found that Engineer SP Sharma, Assistant Engineer Rameshwar Dayal, Junior Engineer Kapil Kumar, Executive Engineer Himanshu Yadav, Assistant Engineer Neeraj Kumar and Junior Engineer Santraj were at fault.

According to the reports, the six were the members of the supervisory committee and had failed to explain as to how many times they checked the sewage plant in the last few months.

The family members of the deceased will be given Rs 10 lakh each as compensation.

" We have terminated the contract of the company and three more engineers could also be booked for negligence," said a senior official of Ghaziabad administration.

On Sunday, three men including two sanitation workers were suffocated to death inside a sewer tank in Ghaziabad. The tank was so full of poisonous gases and fumes that it took the rescue team three hours to fish out the bodies.
