Equatorial Guinea celebrates Independence Day in Delhi

The Embassy of Equatorial Guinea on Friday hosted a reception on the occasion of 50 years of Independence of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, in the city. The event was also the first official event organised by the Ambassador Manuel Mbela Bama Ndong, since the establishment of the Mission in 2016, being 160th Diplomatic Mission in India. Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary (East) , Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the chief guest at the occasion.

The Ambassador hailed the National Day Reception as also a time ushering in a new phase in Equatorial Guinea-India relations. Addressing the gathering, the diplomat said,"Relations between Equatorial Guinea and India are strengthening. Cooperation in multiple sectors from telecommunications to agriculture is based on a mutual success and guided by the principles of long-term partnership, and support. The Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea using resources from hydrocarbons highly invested in robust infrastructure and human resources to expand agriculture, fishing, air transport, education, telecommunications, tourism industries in Equatorial Guinea, welcoming foreign investors."

He further said, "It is an essential component of my work to promote investment in Equatorial Guinea and to help facilitating trade and commerce – where there are indeed vast untapped opportunities. Equatorial Guinea occupies an advantageous position on African continent, which relations with Asian countries are increasing."
