Crime branch arrests two criminals from Jahangirpuri

Delhi Police's crime branch has arrested two criminals, one of them wanted in seven cases, also involved in the murder of a Delhi Police Constable in 2014.

The two men have been identified as Firoz and Kanhaiya and they were arrested from Jahangirpuri area. The duo landed in police net when information about them was received and a police team laid a trap in Jahangirpuri on November 2.

"It was around 5 pm the team spotted Firoz and Kanhaiya as they arrived at the identified spot on a motorcycle, and were apprehended. Two loaded pistols were recovered from both Firoz and Kanhaiya, each. It was during the interrogation that the duo revealed they had been planning to commit a robbery in Jahangirpuri area," said a senior police officer.

In 2014, Firoz and his associate Fauji, were involved in a case where a Delhi Police Constable had been murdered in Jyoti Nagar area. Fauji, who later died, had shot dead Constable Shiv Raj as he tried to stop the duo for checking at a picket. The duo served sentence in prison and was granted bail by the court in 2016.

In 2008, Firoz was arrested for another murder at Old Delhi railway Station. He had stabbed a person to death in a bid to rob him. 

He was also found involved in the cases of robbery, theft, criminal assault and possession of illegal firearms in Delhi and Ghaziabad, UP.
