The owner of BoomBox Cafe in West Delhi's Rajouri Garden was thrashed by around six persons after a clash broke out between them over the payment issue on the intervening night of Saturday. The police have also registered a case under various sections against the cafe for serving hookah and playing loud music beyond the permissible limit.

The initial call made to the police was regarding firing at the cafe but when the police reached the location, it was revealed that no firing had taken place but a clash had broken out between the owner and some customers over the bill. Initial investigation revealed that a group of friends was hosting a birthday party for one of their friends at the cafe. Since it was the closing time, they were asked to pay the bill and leave. The group of around six persons then argued with the waiter, which later turned into a heated argument. The owner, Rizul Garg and his brother, Nikunj during the clash sustained injuries and were taken to Kukreja Nursing Home for treatment.

A case for causing hurt and intimidation has been registered based on Garg's statement.

When the police scanned the CCTV footage, it came to fore that a person whipped out a pistol looking object but kept it back in his pocket again. "No firing had taken place. Due to the commotion, his face could not be seen clearly. Efforts are being made to identify the accused persons and recover the weapon," said Vijay Kumar, DCP, West.

In the CCTV footage, it was observed that hookahs were being served to the customers. Not just this, music was also played loudly beyond the permissible limit. Hence, the Delhi Police have initiated action under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COPTA) and Delhi Police Act against the restaurant owners as well. The Delhi Police have also seized hookah, tobacco packets, plastic containers and flavour packets from the restaurant.
