With the launch of doorstep delivery of 40 services in the capital from September 10, the Delhi government plans to address 50,000 cases in a month and a minimum of 3 lakh cases a year. The proposal has been prepared by VFS Global — one of the biggest visa and passport service provider and submitted to the government in June.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had proposed doorstep delivery of services earlier this year and had accused Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal of stalling it. However, a five-judge Constitution Bench had on July 4 laid down broad parameters for the governance of the national capital, paving the way for the government to proceed with the scheme.

In a 21-page detailed plan, the VFS global has laid down the entire process of availing the services. A copy of the proposal is with DNA. The entire process will require a full-fledged team comprising of a project manager, technical support, HR, trainers and a minimum of 70 mobile sahayaks.

A call has to be made at 1076 to avail the doorstep delivery of services.

"A separate mobile application can be used for coordinating with the mobile sahayak. As soon as the mobile sahayak reach the resident's house, s/he will confirm the details with the citizen. In case the citizen is not available or the address is not traceable, the mobile sahayak will call the citizen. All the calls made by the mobile sahayak will be made through the back end of doorstep application and will be recorded," the proposal stated.

As per the plan, the AAP government will provide 40 services in the first phase, as announced by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last week. The services will be provided for an extra fee of Rs 50. This means, no Delhi citizen would have to stand in queues for the services listed under the scheme.

Various certificates such as caste, new water connection, income, driving licence, ration card, domicile, marriage registration, duplicate RC and change of address in RC, among others, will be covered under the scheme.
