Rishabh Pant's maiden Test in Australia keeps getting better as a wicketkeeper, equals MS Dhoni's record

Rishabh Pant notched up six catches behind the wickets during Australia's innings in the ongoing first Test at the Adelaide Oval and that's the most number of catches claimed by an Indian wicketkeeper in a Test innings.

Pant took the catches of Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

Meanwhile, Pant equalled former Indian Test keeper MS Dhoni, who had taken six catches in a Test innings at Wellington in 2009. 

Australia were all out for 235, giving India a first-innings lead of 15 runs on Day 3 on Saturday.

India were bowled out for 250 in their first innings on the second morning at the Adelaide Oval.

The start of third day's play was delayed by rain and there was also one interruption in between after the heavens opened up again.

Just before the start of India's second innings, the rains returned that forced the umpires to take an early lunch.

On Day two, Pant was heard saying on the stump mic, ” Ye chhoti ball ka wait kar raha hai bas, chhota nahi dena isko.” The young wicketkeeper was heard saying that during the 54th over to experienced spinner Ravi Ashwin.

While the Indian fans are used to watching MS Dhoni instructing bowlers from behind the wickets, it was hilarious that a young Pant has also begun to do that and that to with a player who is way too experienced than him. This also demonstrated the amount of confidence the 21-year-old boosts as a young man in the team.
