Samit Dravid, the son of India's head coach Rahul Dravid, has been included in Karnataka's 15-player squad for the prestigious 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy. This highly anticipated U-19 tournament will take place in Hyderabad from October 12 to 20.

Samit, who will be turning 18 on the eve of the competition, has previously showcased his talent in U14 tournaments for Karnataka. However, this upcoming event will mark his debut in U-19 cricket, providing him with an exciting opportunity to prove his skills at a higher level. It's worth noting that Dravid's younger son, Anvay, is currently leading the U14 cricket team for the state.

The addition of Samit to the squad adds an extra layer of intrigue to Karnataka's lineup. As the son of a renowned cricketing figure like Rahul Dravid, Samit's inclusion brings with it a sense of anticipation and curiosity.

Rahul Dravid himself has not only represented the state team at the senior level, but also at the U-15, U-17, and U-19 levels. He made his Ranji debut during the 1991/92 season.

However, as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Dravid will not be able to watch his elder son play in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. This is because the tournament clashes with the 2023 ODI World Cup, which begins on October 5.

Currently, Dravid and his team are involved in a three-ODI series against Australia. Led by KL Rahul, the Indian side managed to defeat Australia by five wickets in Mohali, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Karnataka Squad: Dheeraj J Gowda (c), Dhurv Prabhakar (vc), Karthik SU, Shivam Singh, Harshil Dharmani (wk), Samit Dravid, Yuvraj Arora (wk), Hardik Raj, Aarav Mahesh, Aaditya Nair, Dhanush Gowda, Shikhar Shetty, Samarth Nagaraj, Karthikeya KP, Nishchith Pai.
