Prithvi Shaw has become India's latest batting sensation after a dream debut in international cricket against West Indies in the two-match test series. The 18-year old scored 237 runs in the two matches at an average of 118.50 including century on debut.

Now, Prithvi Shaw could be fast-tracked into India’s limited-overs side as well. Shaw may be selected in Team India for the upcoming five-match ODI series against West Indies, if reports are to be believed.

According to report in Indian Express, Prithvi Shaw may be given a chance in the ODI series as well. The report said that the team management is keen to test Shaw as an opener as they want to look at different options before the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

“With an eye to the World Cup, the main focus was how to rotate players. In fact, more than rotation, it would be more about how to save our key players. That’s why you would see the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Shami in and out of the squad, not playing regularly," a BCCI source was as quoted as saying in the report.

"The players who are important for all formats will be adequately taken care of. Going ahead also, these things will keep happening.”

Shaw has scored 938 runs at an average of 42.33 and at a strike rate of 115.37 in 22 List A (domestic 50-over) matches so far.

India will go with the combination of first-choice openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan at the top in the first two matches of the ODI series. However, Shaw may get a call-up for the last three matches.
