Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir is catching headlines again after he posted his concerns over the current environmental issues of our planet.

The east-Delhi MP took to Twitter to put forward his argument over the air pollution problems in Delhi and the ugly side effects of smoking.

Gambhir quoted an ANI tweet which read, "Delhi: A 28-year-old non-smoking woman from a non-smoking family has been diagnosed with fourth stage lung cancer, as per the doctors at Ganga Ram Hospital, Chest surgeon Dr Arvind Kumar says, "I suspect the reason behind it is polluted & toxic air in Delhi".

India's 2011 World Cup final hero in reply to this tweet explained how we as human beings need to open our eyes because the pollution that we are creating is now coming back to bite us.

Gambir's Tweet read, "We are only as blind as we want to be. Open your eyes. We are being choked to death, and there is no solution in sight."

Gambhir's ex-national teammate and Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin also backed his statement and tweeted, "The Planet won’t be destroyed, we will just make it uninhabitable for Human beings. Natural resources are telling us that they can’t tolerate the human nuisance, can we hear???"
