Ponting took to Twitter and wrote, "Can't wait to get over to @delhicapitals and get to work. Hope @akshar2026 and @ashwinravi99 have some wickets left after taking all of them in the last month, and @rishabhpant17 has more runs to make!"

Ashwin and Axar took 59 wickets in total in the four matches as India won the series 3-1 and reached the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Ashwin, was also the 'Player of the series' as he took 32 wickets including three five-wicket hauls and scored 189 runs including a century, while Axar who made his debut in the series, in just the three games he played took 27 wickets.

Pant, on the other hand, ended the series as the third highest run-getter with 270 runs including a match-winning century in the final game, which earned him the 'Man of the Match' award.
