Rashid Khan who plays for Adelaide Strikers in a Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 had recently lost his father but continued to play the match even after hearing the news.

The Afghanistan leg-spinner who usual lively, was not seen much interested but did chose to stick with the team rather than sit out of the game and made sure he gave his 100 percent.

The already popular 20-year-old in the dressing room only earned more respect and affection from his Strikers' team-mates and fans.

Rashid was welcomed to the bowling crease in the ninth over by thunderous applause from the Adelaide crowd.

He initially did not take wickets in his first two overs but got one of the day in the 15th over. The always ready for celebration Rashid, just smiled when he got his first wicket and in support of his wicket, all the Strikers teammates ran up to him and gave him hugs.

When he was done with his bowling spell, the Adelaide crowd applauded his grit.

"He's one of the best in the world at cricket and he's one of the best blokes I've ever played with," Alex Carey told cricket.com.au after the game. "He's fitted into our group amazingly over the last two seasons.

"He's one of our brothers in the side, he's one of the best players in the world at cricket but just the person he is – I don't have high enough words. He's just one of the best I've come across as a person ... He was out signing autographs before the game, he fronted up tonight and played outstandingly."
