Reliance kicks off Wellness stores

Targets 10% market share; this is the fifth retail format of the group

HYDERABAD: Reliance Retail is targeting at least 10% of the country’s Rs 38,000 crore health and medical products market and the Rs 16,000 crore personal and beauty care products market through its latest retail venture, the Reliance Wellness chain of stores.

Kicking off the new format, the fifth after Reliance Fresh, Reliance Digital, Reliance Mart and Reliance Trends, from Hyderabad, the company said it will set up 20 pilot stores over the next six months.

It intends to take the number to 1,200 stores across the country in three years, Ninu Khanna, president & CEO, FMCG and Wellness, Reliance Retail, said.

Reliance Wellness will kick off in Bangalore, Mysore and Mumbai next month, to be followed by Delhi, Jaipur and a few other cities in December, he added.

Spread over 2,500 sq ft, the first Wellness store at Rajbhavan Road in Hyderabad stocks 8,000 SKUs, including pharmaceutical drugs and ayurvedic medicines.

The chain will offer pre-emptive, curative and health and beauty solutions, apart from the products that cater to these needs. It will stock spa products such as Thalgo and H2O, apart from Arkopharma Nutrition, Neutrogena, Muscletech Sports Nutrition products, to name a few.

The chain will also stock personal care and beauty products, OTC health foods and self help medical and fitness equipment.

Reliance Wellness will also provide opticals and free eye checkups to customers walking into the store.
