He is an alumnus of Mumbai University. He is the chairman of the group. He has interests in retail, infrastructure, refineries, finance, hospitality etc. The firm is worth 8.4 billion dollars. His companies are reportedly debt free.

The firm has over 21 companies working in 11 countries. The firm was founded in 2010. They have several other contracts as well.

Ajay Harinath Singh also placed his bids for Jet Airways, Air India and the Shipping Corporation of India.

His firm also showed interest in Anil Ambani's Reliance Capital.

Singh, the promoter of Darwin, said in a statement, “The NCLT has entrusted us with a challenging task to develop an ambitious world-class smart city in the country. The verdict would reinforce our commitment to nation-building. Lavasa is now on the cusp of a remarkable resurgence. DPIL is committed to executing the plan as per the schedule proposed to the CoC.
