JSW Steel has clocked a 33 per cent growth in crude steel production for May 2009 as compared to the year-ago period.
       
The company's crude steel production rose to 4.59-lakh tonnes in May this year as against 3.46-lakh tonnes in May 2008, a press release issued here on Friday stated.
       
The substantial growth in production is mainly attributable to the production from the 2.8-mtpa expansion project at Vijayanagar works, the release said.

The company's rolled products (flat) production increased 20 per cent to 3.07-lakh tonnes as against 2.55-lakh tonnes.
       
Its rolled products (long) production jumped 106 per cent to 0.65-lakh tonnes in May 2009 as against 0.32-lakh tonnes in May 2008, the release said.
