Shah Rukh Khan reveals he and Atlee 'fooled' Deepika Padukone into doing a full-length role as Aishwarya in Jawan.
Shah Rukh Khan is currently riding high on success with his latest release Jawan. The film also features Deepika Padukone in a special appearance which garnered a positive response from the audience. During the successful meeting of the film, SRK revealed how he and Atlee fooled Deepika with a full-length role.
Shah Rukh Khan and the team of Jawan are currently celebrating the success of their film with fans in Mumbai. When asked to Atlee, about his reaction to the thunderous response to the film, the filmmaker replied, “Jawan to me is like a love letter which I wrote to Shah Rukh Khan.” In reply to this, SRK said, “I just want one opportunity to love and with this love letter, I was completely overboard.”
Shah Rukh Khan further added how he and Atlee fooled Deepika Padukone and said, “I really like sitting here with all the crew and Deepika feeling the most awkward, I’ll tell you why. She felt that I came to do a short role keeping our friendship in mind, but between me and Atlee, we made her shoot a full-length film and she didn’t even realize. So when she watched the film, she was like ‘oh, I was one of the main characters’, she didn’t even know. So she is very awkward sitting here, but thank you Deepika for being a part of this film.”
Deepika Padukone replied, “I am now realising that I was fooled at this stage. I was shooting at Hyderabad for Project K when Shah Rukh Khan flew down to come and see me and he narrated the whole story to me and told me this very important part of Aishwarya for me, it wasn’t about the length of the role, but about the impact the character is going to have on the entire film.”
She added, “So for me, it was twofold, one is my love for him but also the movie was so so special, that any actor not just me, who would have been offered this part couldn’t say no. It was about the vision. He started narrating the whole story and in the first 1 minute I was like why are you even wasting your energy, ofc I want to do it.” She concluded, “When Shah Rukh and I are working it’s not formal, there is just lots of love and that’s what comes in our work.”
Helmed by Atlee, Jawan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi along with Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Aaliyah Qureshi, Lehar Khan, Priyamani, and others in key roles. The movie has collected over Rs 600 crore in just 7 days and is still running strong at the box office.
Deepika Padukone who plays Azad (Shah Rukh Khan)’s mother and Vikram Rathore (Shah Rukh Khan)’s wife in Jawan had a 20-minute cameo in the movie and the actress won hearts with her performance. Her role in the movie became the talk of the town and her chemistry with SRK was well appreciated by the fans.
