Atlee-directed action-thriller broke the all-time record for advance bookings by any Bollywood film and now looks to replicate that feat with its opening day collection again. If the morning show footfalls are any indication of how things stand, Shah Rukh Khan is out to break his own record, which he set less than eight months ago with Pathaan.

Jawan collected Rs 40 crore gross in just advance collections for day one even before a single show began. The morning shows started on a promising note taking advantage of the Janmashtami holiday and the afternoon shows did even better. Trade analysts say that Jawan’s Hindi version alone could net Rs 65 crore on Thursday, way higher than Pathaan’s record of Rs 55 crore. Jawan also stars Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi with a cameo appearance of Deepika Padukone.
