The kind of risks Akshay Kumar has been taking as an actor, especially with his recent choices in the films that he has taken up, have been applauded. While with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, he took up the issue of open defecation prevalent in many rural areas of the country, with his latest released Pad Man, Akshay has gone a step ahead and brought to forefront the issue of menstrual hygiene.

While Toilet: Ek Prem Katha managed to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office, Pad Man, despite getting appreciation from the audience and the critics alike, may not be able to do so. Why do we say so? Well, the film, which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles, has been witnessing a steady decline in its collections at the box office in the second week.

Pad Man had a steady start at the ticket windows as it managed to collect a total of Rs 62.87 crore by the end of its first week. However, the collections showed a downward trend in its second week, by the end of which the film could muster a total of Rs 71.90 crore at the ticket windows only.

While Pad Man continues to face stiff competition at the box office from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat and Black Panther, new releases in the upcoming week too pose a threat to the collections of the Akshay Kumar film, since its screen count will also be reduced.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the figures and wrote, "#PadMan declined considerably in Weekend 2... Entry into the ₹ 100 cr Club is ruled out, as per current trending... [Week 2] Fri 2.10 cr, Sat 3.15 cr, Sun 3.78 cr. Total: ₹ 71.90 cr. India biz."

Going by the current trend, Pad Man may end up with a lifetime collections of close to Rs 80 crore. Watch this space for more updates...
