Akshay Kumar has been a the peak of superstardom for several years now. The actor who has had a career in films spanning three decades has given massive blockbusters and yet is touted to be one of the humblest celebrities in B-town.
A disciplined actor who loves to entertain his fans with several releases per year, Akshay did not stop doing what he does best even during the pandemic. He continued filming under strict protocols for 'Bell Bottom' in Scotland and became the first actor to have shot and wrapped the film during the pandemic.
However, Akshay journey to the top hasn't been easy. As we all know, he did odd jobs before getting his first break in the film 'Sugandh' that was released in 1981. In fact, in his career in films, Akshay has faced several rejections too. One of the films he was rejected for was Aamir Khan's 1992 film 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'. The film had featured Aamir as the lead role alongside Pooja Bedi, Deepak Tijori, Ayesha Jhulka, and Mamik Singh.
Akshay had auditioned for the film but not for the lead role. Instead, he had auditioned to play the role of the antagonist Shekhar Malhotra, which was eventually essayed by Deepak Tijori. Interestingly, Deepak too wasn't the first choice for the role. It was model-turned-actor Milind Sonam.
In a throwback interview with ETimes, Deepak had shared the experience and revealed how he and Akshay had auditioned for the role together.
"Akshay Kumar and I went for the same audition and we were both rejected. So, I was not to be a part of 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander'. 75 per cent of the film was already complete when I joined them; Milind Soman had shot for the film, not me," he had said.
The movie was directed by Mansoor Khan and was produced by Nasir Hussain.
On the work front, Akshay has a few films in the pipeline. He will feature in 'Bell Bottom' alongside Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi. He also has 'Ram Setu', 'Atrangi Re' and 'Prithviraj' in his kitty.
