Denim dudettes

Jumpsuits were originally utilitarian wear known for easy dressing. But the garb has made it to Bollywood divas’ wardrobes — especially its denim take. After all, it’s a fuss-free outfit that comes in different styles as well as fits, and looks uber chic. Whether quick and comfy dressing for your flight time, like it was for Amrita Rao and Bhumi Pednekar recently, or a pampering session at a salon for Twinkle Khanna, it can be worn anywhere. The stylish onesie also makes for a good option for an outing, like Sussanne Khan’s body-hugging when she caught up with friends for dinner.

Designer Ravi Gupta says, “Jumpsuits are casual yet classy, they’re all over the high street since they’re an instant outfit. You don’t have to think about a matching top or trousers. Just add accessories and you’re good to go.” He adds that since some patterns have a lot of pockets, one might not need to carry a big handbag.

Jumpsuits can be styled according to the patterns, Ravi adds. “You could take it into party territory by adding heels, a clutch and a pair of jazzy earrings. Denim are popular choices, perfect for pairing with white trainers or leather ankle-boots for a casual daytime look,” he suggests. While one must wear clothes according to their body type, Ravi says for jumpsuits you needn’t have one. “But just know the trick of wearing them,” he concludes.
