Filmfare Awards are one of the most respected annual awards in the Hindi film industry. From starting with just five awards in its first ceremony in 1954, the 68th edition of the ceremony saw awards being given in 29 different categories in 2023. It is an honour fo an artist to win the Filmare Black Lady statuette.

The Filmfare Award for Best Actor has been a constant since the first edition when it was awarded to Dilip Kumar, who holds the joint record for winning the award a maximum number of times in the category - 8, along with Shah Rukh Khan. But the actor, who holds the record of recieving the maximum nominations in this category, is none other than Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan has received 34 nominations for Best Actor at Filmfare Awards. Out of which, the legendary actor has won the award a total number of five times. Amitabh's first win came in the year 1978 when he was awarded the Black Lady statuette for Amar Akbar Anthony. Next year, in 1979, Big B won his second award for Don.

The veteran actor had to wait for thirteen more years for his third Filmfare Best Actor award, which he won it for Hum in 1992. Fouteen years later, Amitabh Bachchan won his penultimate award for Black in 2006, and then finally in 2010, the actor received his final award for Paa.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Big B will be seen next in the action-thriller Ganapath Part 1. The Vikas Bahl directorial, which also features Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, is set for a theatrical release on October 20 and will clash at the box office with Kangana Ranaut's Tejas and divya Khosla Kumar's Yaariyaan 3.

The 80-year-old actor also has Nag Ashwin's big-budget sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan lined up for release next year. Produced by  Vyjayanthi Movies, it is said to be the most expensive film ever made with a reported budget of over Rs 600 crore.
