Having evaded arrest for more than eight months, BMW hit-and-run accused Vismay Shah’s father, Dr Amit Shah, finally surrendered at Satellite police station on Thursday morning.

Sources revealed that Shah went to the police station with his lawyer at around 10:30 am.

A complaint had been lodged against Shah with Satellite police on March 4 for misleading cops.

He was accused of not providing correct information about his son Vismay, who had killed two youngsters, Shivam Dave and Rahul Patel, with his BMW car. The then Vastrapur police inspector, MR Sharma, had lodged a complaint against Shah under IPC section 212 (helping the offender), IPC sections 176 and 177 (not giving correct information to the police). Immediately after that, Shah had gone into hiding. On November 1, he was arrested by the Mumbai police for alleged involvement in a 13-year-old cheating case. However, Satellite police could not take his custody from Mumbai police since he received bail the same day. He finally surrendered on Thursday.

After several rounds of discussion and other formalities, Satellite police arrested Shah at 4:15 pm.

“We have arrested Shah and will keep him in our custody till tomorrow. To collect more information about his hiding place and the people who helped him all these months, we will present him in the court on Friday and ask for his remand,” said AS Pandya, police inspector of Satellite police.
