Paresh Dhanani, opposition leader in Gujarat assembly blamed Gujarat government of huger corruption than fodder scam of Lalu Prasad Yadav. He referred his speech in Gujarat assembly over the scam in food grains distributed among the poor families in state. Dhanani had participated in the debate over the budgetary demands by food and civil supplies held in house on Tuesday. He alleged Gujarat government for scam but speaker expunged his remarks from records.

While talking to DNA, Dhanani said, “Central and state government give a subsidy of Rs. 504 crore every month and in last four years of NDA government, subsidies of more than Rs. 48,000 crore was given by governments under Food Security Act. As per revelation by an RTI activist Ajay Jangid, 25% of ration card holders in state are ghost holders and the grains of worth Rs. 12,000 crore or more is siphoned by such corrupt people and government has nexus with them. This is the huger scam than Lalu Prasad Yadav in which this BJP government snat-ched a handful of food from the mouth of poor people.”

“Jangid revealed that some people got ration card issued of many prominent personalities like spiritual discourser Morari Bapu and other religious leaders, MPs, MLAs, politicians, businessmen, actors and syphoned stock of grains on their names. Though these were people who were not under the category of poor, grains were issued. This is also a major concern of data leak of Aadhar details and in that case too, the state government is proved to be totally ignorant,” Dhanani said.

Replying to Dhanani’s allegations in house, the minister for food and civil supplies Jayesh Radadiya said, “If such cases come on fore where some anti social elements siphon grains meant for poor, we should fight against them rubbing shoulder to shoulder. This is not the issue of political rivalry or blame game but this government is sentimentally attached with the welfare of poor and we firmly believe that the food of their rights should not go into wrong hands.”

NEW SYSTEM

We have decided to bring retina identification system to distribute foods so that the grains will not go into wrong hands,” Radadiya said.
