Ahmedabad: Bogus PSI escaped from police hand

As the fake police menace is on a rise in the city, the SHE team of Sola police station had almost caught a bogus Police Sub Inspector (PSI) on the road towards Hebatpur on Wednesday. The man, however, eventually succeeded in escaping from the spot. A case has been lodged regarding the same.

According to police officials, when a SHE police team comprising of head constable Alpaben and two other officers, were on routine patrolling, they saw a man standing in a police uniform, tucked a gun case on the waist on the road towards Hebatpur road under Sola bridge area with his moped — Suzuki Access.

Being suspicious, the team approached the man while he was watching the passing cars. The lady police team started questioning him about his identity, responding to that the man claimed that he is the police sub-inspector with the Sola police station and was waiting for someone.

When the officer asked him to show his ID card, the man started giving excuses that he had forgotten the card at home. Later, when the cops told him to come along with them to the Sola police station to verify, the man started to flee from the spot on his scooter. As the cops tried to nab him, he pushed them and managed to flee from the spot.

While trying to catch him, the cops managed to get his gun, which was discovered to be an air gun. Cops have noted the vehicle number of the man and on the basis of it, they have started an investigation to nab down the fake PSI.

DH Gadhvi, Inspector of Sola Police Station said, “We have lodged a case and started an investigation to nab down the accused regarding the matter. Our team has recovered the number of the vehicle and through which we are trying to search him.”

Accused Escaped

On Thursday, a message doing rounds on the social media about an accused arrested in theft case got escaped from the custody of Nikol Police-sub inspector was circulated. In this regard, When Police inspector HB Zala was contacted he said, “The entire matter was a rumour nothing like that ever happened at the police station.”
