The University of Mumbai is contemplating starting a first-of-its-kind course — Masters of Science in Finance.

With support from the industry, the course is expected to be of international standards, such as Cambridge and Harvard.

“The UGC has asked the university to design such a course, considering Mumbai is the financial capital," said a senior faculty member. “The course will be designed considering the market needs. Hence, there will be huge finance industry participation in setting up and conducting the course. But, discussions with the industry and authorities are still on to finalise the course structure and syllabus.”

The university will take the entire responsibility of the two-year course.

Any students, who has studied mathematics up to graduation, will be eligible for the course.
