End of an era: Torrent aggregator website Torrentz.eu is dead

After Kickass torrents, popular torrent aggregation website Torrentz.eu has shut shop. One of the most popular websites in the world (ranked 28 in Alexa), the site bid farewell after 13 years of faithful service to millions of illegal downloaders across the world. While the page hasn’t been taken down, there’s a cryptic, haunting message that reads:  “Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines”.

If you search anything on the bar, you will be redirected to the homepage with a message that says:  “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell”. It’s still not clear why the website was taken down but it’s  a sure sign that the lawless days of illegal downloading might be a thing of the past.
