'Fatigued' Tiger Woods says he 'ran out of gas' before score collapse in Tour Championship

World No.1 Tiger Woods has reportedly blamed fatigue as the reason behind his scoring woes in the Tour Championship in East Lake, in which he collapsed with a one-over 71 after his 73 in the first round and ended up with a tie for the 26th place.

Despite racing to five under for the day within 13 second-round holes on Saturday and placing himself firmly back in contention to win both the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, the American star collapsed spectacularly, dropping six shots from the 14th onwards.

According to the Guardian, the 14-time Major winner admitted that a hectic year was finally taking its toll on him and blamed his exhaustion for his collapse on Friday, saying that he just 'ran out of gas' as he had put everything he had into the start at East Lake and did not have much left in the end to show.

Stating that it has been a 'long grind' for him this year, Woods predicted that matters would become even more hectic in 2016, when golf returns to the Olympic Games in Rio, adding that even his legs felt tired.

Pointing out that a condensed schedule from the Open Championship to the climax of the FedEx play-off events was the reason behind his fatigue, Woods said that he does not want a late finish to the tournament and hoped that the event does not go on till Monday.
