Student held with tiger nails worth Rs5 lakh

The Pimpri police have arrested a 20-year-old Computer Science student and recovered tiger nails from him. Cops have said that the nails are worth Rs five lakh and he had brought it from one of his friends to sell them in the city.

The suspect have been identified as Shrikant Pote of Sangavi and hailing from Narayangaon.

Police sub-inspector Ansar Shaikh said, “On Sunday afternoon, we received a tip-off that a person would be coming to Pimpri chowk to sell some tiger nails. We laid a trap, detained him for questioning and found the nails with him,” he said.

During the interrogation, Pote said that he had brought the nails from his friend in Narayangaon and was looking for a prospective customer. The case has been transferred to the forest department.
