Youth mugs tourist in Bandra, held

The new combat force formed by city police commissioner D Sivanandhan nabbed a thief who robbed Rs700 from a 25-year-old man at the Bandra Reclamation.

Shishir Marathe was strolling by the sea when three youngsters grabbed him and fled with his wallet. Marathe raised an alarm and the combat police van patrolling nearby chased the trio and nabbed one of the accused, Sonu Visuf Shaikh, 18.

According to police, around 10.45pm on Saturday night, Marathe, a resident of Jogeshwari, was taking a walk on the Bandra Reclamation when Shaikh and two of his friends attacked him. One of the three grabbed Marathe by his neck and the other one removed his wallet containing Rs700 and fled. Shaikh lives in Rahul Nagar slums near the Bandra Reclamation.
