Independent MLA from Vasai Vivek Pandit today slammed the Maharashtra government for delay in implementing its decision to exclude 35 villages from the Vasai-Virar municipal corporation.

Pandit will undertake a "long march" from Vasai to Varsha, chief minister Ashok Chavan's official residence in South Mumbai tomorrow on Gandhi Jayanti and reach Varsha on October four.

The MLA said the janandolan committee has collected funds to be given to the chief minister for getting their work done speedily.

He said the notification issued in July 2009 says the villages have been excluded from Thane district. "These villages have not been excluded from Vasai-Virar corporation an d do not have gram sabhas too," he added.
