Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has refuted media reports that quoted him saying that it was not possible to abolish toll at entry points to Mumbai and on Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Fadnavis said he had never made any such statement and that mediapersons should ask their counterparts from Pune who have written about the matter.

Earlier, most newspapers had written that the CM, while speaking at a public function in Pune, had expressed his inability to abolish toll in Mumbai and on the Expressway. Fadnavis had reportedly said that in the absence of a buyback clause in the toll agreements, the state could not take control of the toll plazas.

Meanwhile, motorists entering or exiting the city will continue to pay toll for next 11 years. Out of a total period of 16 years, these toll plazas have completed only five years.
