In a development to the probe of the deaths of three school children of a Virar school, the inspector general (IG) of Konkan region has launched a parallel probe in the case. Anguished over the slow pace of investigations, the parents of the kids once again expressed their dissatisfaction, claiming that two of the kids knew how to swim.

Prahul Patel, Kushal Dagha and Meet Chadhwa, were all students of std IX at Vagad Gurukul International School, when their bodies were found lying behind the school premises in a shallow river on August 27. Initial reports revealed that all had injury marks on their bodies.

Voicing his disappointment, Meet's father, Suresh Chadwa, said: "The local police has missed out vital points in their report, while they have been neglecting inputs given by the co-classmates."

The CID probe that the parents had demanded a fortnight after the bodies were found, has been delayed owing to election process.

Narayan Patel, Prahul's father said: "The CID probe will soon be transferred if police is unable to give a satisfactory response to our queries. Two of the students knew swimming and they could not have drowned in such shallow water."

Speaking about the parallel probe, Amitabh Gupta, IG Konkan Range, said: "The investigation has been launched under the supervision of deputy superintendent Boisar Vijaykant Sagar, while two teams will investigate the case to arrive at a breakthrough."
