13-year-old gagged and raped in Ulhasnagar

In an overnight ordeal, a 13-year-old girl from Karotiyanagar in Ulhasnagar was gagged and raped by a 21-year-old man whom she had met during the Ganpati festival.

The accused, identified as Kiran Waghmare, lived in nearby Gautam Nagar area. He developed friendly relations with the minor girl but she would meet him only occasionally.

On Tuesday night, around 10pm, the accused met the survivor near the public toilet. After chatting with her, the accused told the girl to follow him as he had something urgent and important to tell her in private. On finding themselves at an isolated spot, the accused started touching the minor's private parts but the survivor started crying for help. The accused then gagged her and raped her till the morning. Around 7am the next day, he left her and fled from the spot.

When the victim reached home in the morning, she narrated her ordeal to her parents who were worried about her whole-night disappearance. The survivor mentioned the accused's name and his details. The parents then lodged a complaint with the Central police station.

After getting news of the police complaint, the accused has been absconding and has not been arrested yet.

A police official from Central police station says, "Medical tests results prove that the minor girl was raped. We are searching for the accused and will take stern action against him."

The accused has been charged under section 376 (punishment for rape), The Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
