It’s a bandgala for groom-to-be Shashi Tharoor!

For the past few weeks the grapevine has been buzzing with rumours that politician Shashi Tharoor is likely to tie the knot with Dubai-based businesswoman Sunanda Pushkar.

The couple were in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon and DNA shot exclusive pictures of Tharoor as he was  being outfitted for his wedding wardrobe by couturier Shaahid Amir. We learnt that Shashi and Sunanda may say ‘I Do’ to each other on August 22nd in Kochi followed by a grand reception on August 29th in Dubai.

A calm, suave Shashi was accompanied by Sunanda, looking beautiful and vivacious in a white Chikankari Punjabi dress that perfectly complemented  her politician fiance’s elegant persona.

Shashi will get married wearing a bandgala sherwani. Shaahid, who has many Bolllywood stars as his clients, took us through Shashi’s wedding outfits. “I am a naturalist and not a fashionista. Instead of sloppy kurtas, I’m giving Shashi a more tailored and constructed Indian look to suit his persona. For the pheras, we have a layered hand-woven jute self-embossed kurta in a shade of beige.

All the fabrics used for him are absolutely natural and soft. For the reception in Dubai, he is wearing a bandgala in layered style in a midnight blue shade and a black sherwani. It has extremely minimal work, but the buttons are going to be the highlight of the detailing. He is a non-believer in fashion and hence it was a challenge for me,” he says, adding that he is also creating a few chic Indian sarees for the gorgeous bride.
