‘Humans of Bombay’ is one of the popular pages on social media platforms with millions of followers. The page feature stories of Mumbaikars about their life. The website was founded by Karishma Mehta, who is a writer, photographer and TEDx presenter.

Humans of Bombay is an Indian storytelling website based on the same concept as Humans of New York. In 2014, the website first appeared as a Facebook Page.

Brandon Stanton, the founder of Humans of New York, recently voiced his views about the Indian storytelling enterprise Humans of Bombay on X (previously Twitter). The 39-year-old blogger expressed his disappointment, with the company's decision to sue another storytelling site ‘People of India’ while also stealing his idea.

Since Karishma conducted her very first interview, "Humans of Bombay" has expanded tremendously, chronicling the tales of the citizens of the city and their challenges, progressively embracing merchants, celebrities, and others.

She started a YouTube video series called "How The Hell Did I Do It?" in 2022, which is based on interviews and involves successful businesses, famous personalities, and other people who have achieved success addressing questions about how they did it.

In her first attempt to actively raise funds to support the website, she compiled posts—including some that had not been published online—into a self-published book, Humans of Bombay, which was released in 2016.

Karishma started the page when she was just 21 years old. She was born and raised in Mumbai. She attended the Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. She attended a boarding school in Bangalore for 2 years then college in the UK for three years.

Mehta was an Economics and business student in the UK. She is a freelance writer for various publications, including National Geographic. She has been a regular TEDx presenter and has spoken several times at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
