India?s northeast region is known to preserve its culture and tradition that are highlighted in the numerous festivals. The same was evident during the two-week long post-harvest festival ?Boori Boot Yullo? of Nyishi community which concluded recently in Arunachal Pradesh.

Boori Boot is celebrated by people of Nyishi community, the largest tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. The festival is celebrated to welcome the spring and a successful harvest.

The fortnight-long celebrations were kicked off with games and sports. Various competitions like folk dance, tug of war, war dance and archery were also held.

The festival invokes prayers and sacrifice performed by a priest for the mankind to be blessed with prosperity and be free from diseases.

?The main objective of this festival is we are going to attend into 50 years. And this is one of the oldest and most popular festivals of the Nyishi community. I would like to welcome one and all. This is our ritual festival and we pray for all mankind,? said Ranjon Bini, an Organizer.

As a part of festival, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated a road, audience gallery, podium and priest?s house at the Boori Boot Yullo festival ground.

Boori Boot, one of Arunachal Pradesh?s oldest and most popular festivals, brought people from different walks of life together.

Dance troops dressed in vivid colourful costumes enthralled the visitors.

Emotions like satisfaction, jubilation and joy were seen on the faces of the people attending the festival.

A beauty pageant was also organized as a part of the celebration.

?We are celebrating this Boori Boot Festival with much enthusiasm and spiritedness as we have reached 50 years. We all must celebrate this with joy and happiness,? said Tamar Murtem, Local MLA.

Having many tribes with various festivals, Arunachal Pradesh is an amalgamation of diverse cultures and festivals.

Such festivals and celebrations bring people together and allow them to learn about each other?s customs and traditions.
