Out of the Rs 35 crore, Rs 25 crore are expected to come from the University Grant Commission under the University with Potential for Excellence Scheme, while remaining Rs 10 crore is expected under Rashtriya Uccha Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

“I have recently spoken with the officials at UGC, and they have confirmed that the grant will be received before March 31. The standing committee has not been constituted at the UGC level yet. The grant will be transferred during the first meet, once the committee is formed,” said RK Kothari, vice chancellor, University of Rajasthan.

“As far as RUSA is concerned, UGC has already transferred the 60 per cent amount to the state government. The remaining share has to be provided by Rajasthan government, after which the sanction is released. I believe the amount will be transferred in a day or two,” Kothari added.

He further informed that the university had already received Rs 10 crore under RUSA, out of which five have been utilised.

“Once we give a report of the usage of the amount, we are likely to receive Rs 10 crore more. We had utilised these Rs 5 crore for renovation of old toilets and roads inside the university campus. Out of the remaining five crore, one crore has been given to Rajasthan State Road Development and Construction Corporation for renovation. Parts of the new Rs 10 crore will be utilised for the external development of the central library,” Kothari said.

“Out of the Rs 25 crore being received from UGC, under the UPE scheme, Rs 5 crore will be used for the furnishing of the central library. Rest will be decided once the amount is sanctioned,” Kothari added.

This is the second phase of UPE scheme for which the university has applied. The institute had already received Rs 25 crore during the first phase of the scheme.

Rs 25 crore are expected to come from University Grant Commission (UGC). As many as 15 universities from across the country get selected for this scheme. “The amount is sanctioned after rigorous examination of varsity by a UGC team,” Kothari said.
