MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have had a torrid time in the IPL 2020 with just three wins from 10 games. The three-time champions are currently at the bottom of the table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are in the third spot with 12 points from nine games and a win against Chennai Super Kings will not just knock MS Dhoni’s team out of contention for the playoffs but they could also close in on sealing the spot in the playoffs. In the previous encounter between the two sides, Mumbai Indians lost by five wickets to Chennai Super Kings in the first encounter of IPL 2020 thanks to fifties from Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis.

Sharjah has not been a happy hunting ground for Chennai Super Kings. They lost a high-scoring game against Rajasthan Royals while they were thwarted in the final over by Axar Patel in the clash against Delhi Capitals to lose by five wickets. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, managed to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in their only encounter so far at this venue.

The weather in Sharjah will be slightly pleasant in the evening time. The maximum temperature will be 33 degrees while the night temperatures will be 22 degrees. With the humidity at 41 per cent, dew will still play a part.

Pitch report

The pitch in Sharjah has been excellent to bat on but as the tournament has progressed, the wickets have tended to be sluggish and the ball has stopped on the batsmen. Spinners will play a big role in curbing the scoring.
