‘Youths discouraged by govt’s edu policy”

Around 353 post for lecturers are vacant in the state's grant-in-aid colleges, yet the government has not bothered to give approval to fill the same. These are some of the allegations made by the Congress against the government.

The party has alleged that for the last 10 years, the government has not bothered to fill vacancies and instead is appointing lecturers on a part-time basis, with a monthly pay of mere Rs3,000 to Rs5,000.

The party said that as per the data, around 335 part-time teachers have been appointed, leaving several bright aspirants disappointed.

Also, according to the revised policy of the government, the new pay packages of 353 Adhyapak Sahayak for grant-in-aid colleges will be Rs7,500.

"The government policies are unfair and they discourage the youth from trying to make a career as lecturers," said Manish Doshi, spokesperson of Gujarat Pradesh Congress and Gujarat University's Syndicate.

Talking about the unfair policies, Doshi said the government is not providing NOC to grant-in-aid colleges to appoint new lecturers. 

"On the other hand, part-time lecturers who are trying to become full time faculties are not being made permanent," Doshi said.
In a press release, Doshi said the government is creating a situation where bright and intelligent youth aspiring to enter the field of education are being discouraged by unfair government policies.
