Woman gangraped at gunpoint in front of husband, 3-month-old baby in UP's Muzaffarnagar

A woman was allegedly gangraped on gunpoint by four men in Muzaffarnagar on Friday night in front of her husband when she was returning home with their three-month-old baby.

A woman was allegedly gangraped on gunpoint by four men in Muzaffarnagar on Friday night in front of her husband when she was returning home with their three-month-old baby.

A resident of Jhanjhri village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, 30-year-old Nisha (name changed) and her husband had gone to the district hospital for a mediacl check-up of their three-month-old baby. On their way back home, the couple were waylaid by four men near Neergajani village at around 11 pm.

The four men dragged the couple to a nearby sugarcane field and snatched their baby. “They took us to nearby sugarcane field and tied my husband with rope. They thrashed my husband and threatened to kill my baby if we raised any alarm. The four men took turns and raped me ran away with a warning to keep our mouth shut,” Nisha said.

Once they left, Nisha and her husband screamed for help. A few villagers rushed to their rescue, untied her husband and informed the police. Nisha claimed two out of four were wearing mask.

The police took the couple to the hospital for medical examination.

“We have registered a case against four unidentified men and awaiting medical report. Investigation have already begun and forensic experts have visited the crime spot,” said Ajay Sahdev, Superintendent of Police (Rural).

The police have also called villages who rescued the couple and their baby for recording their statement and trying to make a sketch on the basis of description provided by the gangrape survivor.
