Weather update: Heavy rainfall predicted in several states for next 5 days; check latest IMD forecast here

According to Tuesday's report from the India Meteorological Department, the north peninsula, central India, and adjacent East India are likely to experience active monsoon situations for the next five days, while Maharashtra will most likely experience increased rainfall activity with sporadic heavy downpours from tomorrow till September 8. 

The climate conditions are predicted to deliver light to moderate to widespread rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, to India's eastern area. The IMD stated in its bulletin that this weather pattern was expected to last from today till Thursday (September 7) over Gangetic West Bengal, till Friday over Odisha, from September 5 to 8 in Jharkhand, and until September 9 (Saturday) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rains in South India are projected to be light to moderately to widespread, with sporadic heavy rains anticipated in different places. This weather trend is anticipated to affect coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and northern interior Karnataka today and tomorrow. Rainfall is expected in Karaikal, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu till Thursday, according to IMD.

Kerala and Mahe are predicted to experience severe conditions on Saturday, and coastal and south interior Karnataka will likely also have experience. Light to moderate widespread to widespread rainfall in Central India is also predicted, along with thunderstorms and lightning.

It is anticipated that a weather pattern will affect East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha through September 9, Chhattisgarh from today through Thursday, and West Madhya Pradesh till Saturday. According to the meteorological forecasting organisation, isolated very heavy rainfall is also predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh, respectively.

Light to moderate widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, along lightning are expected in West India. It is predicted that this weather pattern will affect Madhya Maharashtra from Wednesday to Saturday, the Konkan and Goa from Thursday to Saturday, and the Marathwada region through Friday. Additionally, this weather is anticipated to occur in Gujarat Region on Friday, according to the IMD.

Thunderstorms and light to moderate scattered to moderately widespread rainfall are predicted for northeast India. According to the weather service, "Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated over Assam and Meghalaya on September 8 and 9, as well as in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until September 8."

Finally, isolated to scattered rains and thunderstorms are anticipated in Northwest India. It stated that West Uttar Pradesh on tomorrow, East Uttar Pradesh on September 6 (tomorrow) and 7, East Rajasthan through Saturday, and Uttarakhand on September 8 and 9 are all probably to have isolated heavy rainfall activities.
