Tamil Nadu: Dancing jailer suspended after video goes viral

It's not everyday that you see a jailer in the news. A jailer in Salem, Tamil Nadu has been suspended after a video of him dancing in front of his colleagues went viral. A report in The New Indian Express states that Shankaran (58), the deputy jailer of Attur sub jail in Salem district, had come to Chennai to take part in the Republic Day parade. When he and other police personnel came back to the room, Shankaran decided to showcase his dancing skills and did an impromptu dance. He was still in his uniform while most of those watching had changed to casual clothes. The other police personnel took videos of his dance and shared it on Facebook and WhatsApp. And that's when the trouble started for him. 

The daily adds that Salem Central Prison Superintendent Shanmugasundaram conducted an inquiry. There was also an allegation against Shankaran that he had forced a prisoner to cut his hair and another to do a massage. Meanwhile, he was transferred to Coimbatore but the new superintendent of Salem Central Prison M Senthil Kumar served suspension orders for Shankaran on Tuesday, states the report.
