Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday came down heavily on the Opposition Grand Alliance comprising the Congress, TDP, DMK and JD(S). He termed the alliance as 'Mahamilavat' or adulterated alliance of rich people trying to promote their dynasties.

On a day-long visit to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to launch several developmental works and also to address BJP rallies, PM Modi said, "Mahamilavat is a club of rich people trying to promote their dynasties. They neither understand poverty nor do they have the vision to serve the poor."

He was addressing his party rally in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu after inaugurating a slew of developmental projects including a 10-km section of Chennai Metro Rail and a 100-bed ESIC hospital at Tirupur. The PM's visit has again resulted in a hashtag war between his supporters and opposition party members with #SouthIndiaForNaMo and #GoBackModi both trending on Twitter.

Taking a dig at the Opposition, PM Modi said, "They say Modi government is a failure, Modi has done nothing, Modi is going to be badly defeated but still, they have to form big alliances to defeat Modi. What is the agenda of the so-called alliance? What are the issues they are fighting for? Nobody knows. Because their guns are only aimed at Modi."

Alleging that Congress governments helped brokers in defence deals, he said, "The past governments used the defence sector to loot. The previous Congress governments helped brokers. Every middleman had a link with some or the other Congress leader."

The PM also hit out at the DMK by accusing the it of removing the reservation in promotion for SC/ST communities when they were partners in the third front government at the Centre.

Calling former finance minister P Chidambaram 'Mr Recounting Minister', the PM slammed him over his comments against middle class and said it was the NDA government which announced tax exemption for taxpayers earning up to five lakh.
