Navy chief Lanba in Port Blair to review tri-service command

Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba reached here today at the strategically important tri-service command during which he will review the operational preparedness and modernisation plans.

Accompanied by his wife, Lanba is on a five day visit to to Andaman and Nicobar Command. He was received by Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Upon his arrival in Port Blair, the Navy chief also called on the Lieutenant Governor.

In the next four days, Lanba will visit the various outlying units of HQ ANC and interact with the troops posted there to get a first-hand overview of their preparedness and well-being, a Navy statement said.

During the course of his visits, the Chairman COSC and CNS would be visiting Air Force Station Car Nicobar (Carnic) where he will be paying tributes to the martyrs at the Tsunami Memorial.

He would also be visiting INS Baaz at Campbell Bay, INS Kardip at Kamorta Island and Naval Air Station (NAS) Shibpur apart from the various units and establishments located at Port Blair.
