Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi lauds young sports achievers, urges people to visit Kumbh Mela in huge numbers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation in his popular radio broadcast programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. The Prime Minister said India has a rich culture and all Indians should feel proud of it as he urged people to upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in huge numbers. 

"There are many things in our culture that we can make proud of and one of them is Kumbh Mela. I urge all of you to visit Kumbh Mela in huge numbers and hare pictures on s on social media so that more and more people are inspired to visit the event" Modi said. 

"Kumbh Mela is beginning from Jan 15 in Prayagraj. Kumbh is huge as well as divine. UNESCO listed Kumbh in Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity last year," he said during his monthly radio address. 

Modi also lauded young sportspersons including 12-yr-old Hanaya from Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir for winning a gold medal in Karate Championship in Korea.

Wishing her a bright future on behalf of all countrymen, Modi said, "Let me tell you about one of our daughters from Kashmir who won a gold medal in a Karate Championship in Korea. Hanaya is 12 years old and lives in Anantnag, Kashmir. Hanaya trained hard in Karate with perseverance & fervor, studied its nuances and proved herself."

The Prime Minister also hailed the achievement of  16-year-old Rajni who won a gold medal in Junior National Women Boxing Championship against all odds. 

"There was a lot of discussion in media about a 16-year-old daughter, Rajni who won a gold medal in Junior National Women Boxing Championship. When she expressed her wishes to learn boxing to her father, he did everything within his capacity & helped her," the Prime Minister said. 

"She had to start her practice with old gloves as her family’s financial condition was not good. Despite that, she didn’t lose hope and continued boxing. She has also won a medal in Serbia. I congratulate her and thank her parents for supporting her," he added. 

The 51st edition of 'Mann Ki Baat' was broadcast at 11 am on All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan.

The official YouTube channels of Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, AIR and DD News also streamed live the Prime Minister's Mann ki Baat address.

Touching upon various social, national and international issues, PM Modi had launched his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio broadcast programme since 2014, which eventually became extremely popular.
