A month after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the 'Didi Ke Balo' campaign, it has reached to all corners of the state and has proved to be a huge hit. All MLAs from Trinamool Congress are out there in cities and villagers. At some places, the leaders are also seen eating with the common people.

Ever since the campaign was launched, there have been a lot of calls on the campaign helpline. All of them were talking about their grievances with the CM, many youths had called up for jobs.

Commenting on the initiative, TMC's Rajib Banerjee said, "Though youths are calling didi for jobs, this can be nowhere connected to unemployment in the state because it does not exist in the state.

On the contrary, the rate of unemployment is high in centre.

Another party leader Jyotipriyo Mallick said, "The requirement of jobs is a common need amongst youths and this is not specific to the state."

Opposition parties in West Bengal seized the opportunity to question the state government's own claims of creating millions of jobs in the past few years. BJP's Dilip Ghosh questioned the claims made by the state government about creation of jobs. According to the state government, they had created 6.8 million jobs in 2014-15 and 1.3 million more in 2015-16.

According to the Fifth Employment-Unemployment Survey Report 2015-16—the latest available from September last year—13.9% of people with post graduate degrees, and 9.8% of people who have completed undergraduate studies are unemployed in West Bengal.
