Himachal Pradesh: Entire village in Lahaul tests COVID-19 positive except for one man

Reportedly, a religious programme which was held in the village a few days ago is being considered as the superspreader.

A piece of news that can only be categorised as astonishing, apart from one resident, people living in Himachal Pradesh's Thorang village have all tested positive for coronavirus. The village located in Lahaul district is one of the worst COVID-19 affected districts in terms of population ration in the state.

According to reports in News 18, the movement of tourists has been restricted to Teling nullah near the north portal of the Rohtang Tunnel to avoid the spread of the virus. The tourists are not been allowed into Lahaul village as it has been turned into containment zones.

Reportedly, a religious programme which was held in the village a few days ago is being considered as the superspreader. Furthermore, people from surrounding areas who attended the event are also suspected to have contracted COVID-19.

The villagers volunteered themself to get tested, and 41 out of 42 residents of the village turned out to be COVID-19 positive. 52-year-old Bhushan Thakur was the only resident who tested negative after testing.

There has been a spike in COVID-19 cases in Lahaul Spiti villages as 856 people were found out to be COVID-19 positive.

Himachal Pradesh has 7059 active COVID-19 cases, with 501 deaths.
