Owing to the continuous rise in COVID-19 cases, a weekend curfew is currently imposed in the national capital.

Barring essential services, no one is exempted from the curfew. People who need to travel will have to require an e-pass to do so.

The Delhi police on Saturday (April 17) maintained a strict vigil on the Delhi-Noida border and even sent people back who were unnecessarily trying to travel from Noida to Delhi.

Only people involved in essential services were allowed to cross and others were sent back from the borders itself. People travelling to Delhi hospitals and for other valid reasons were also allowed to cross the border.

Due to curfew, the Delhi Police has been posted at various borders to prevent people without a valid reason from entering Delhi. There was strict checking by the police at Sector 14, Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway, Kalindi Kunj and other Delhi borders.

The police also took action against several people and issued challans to them for not wearing masks and following COVID-19 protocols.

Now, as there is a Sunday lockdown imposed in Uttar Pradesh, there is also the deployment of Noida police at the borders to prevent people from entering the state without a valid reason.

Meanwhile, India on Sunday (April 18) reported its highest-ever single-day spike of COVID-19 cases with over 2.61 lakh new cases and more than 1,500 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.
