Delhi Rains: Heavy rainfall in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram; waterlogging in several areas

Delhi, Gurugram and Noida received heavy rainfall in the intervening night between Sunday and Monday, bringing much-needed respite from the humid weather conditions. According to IMD, rains will continue throughout the day in Delhi and its adjoinign areas, including Noida and Gurugram.

It is expected that the maximum and minimum temperature in Delhi would remain around 32 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR ( Bahadurgarh, Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida)…during next 2 hours,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said this morning. 

Meanwhile, the air quality index of Delhi improved to ‘satisfactory’ category on Monday morning. As per the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board, the hourly air quality index (AQI) at 7 am stood at 82.

Though the rainfall has brought respite for Delhiites from the heat, the incessant rain has caused waterlogging in several areas, affecting the normal life in Delhi. According to reports, one person lost his life due to rain. 

Waterlogging was reported from several areas in Gurugram as well. The Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) in Gurugram was completely waterlogged this morning.
