Margot Robbie has cashed in on the success of Barbie to become the highest-paid actress in the world currently. The Greta Gerwig film has been a grand success, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide. Robbie both starred in the film and served as one of the producers. A recent report in Variety claimed that for her role in the film, the Australian actress will take home a hefty $50 million (over Rs 400 crore).

Barbie has grossed $1.18 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film from a female director. The film is also the second-highest-grossing film from Warner Bros, behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The film’s success has also prompted Mattel – the owner of Barbie brand – to make plans for more films based on their toys.

Cameron Diaz comes in at number 3, earning $42 million for the 2011 hit Bad Teacher. Other high-paid actresses include Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot, Scarlett Johansson, and Angelina Jolie, all of whom have earned over $20 million for various movies.
